Dr Wijewardene is a Staff Specialist Endocrinologist at Royal North Shore and Concord Hospitals. She brings extensive experience to general endocrinology, alongside dedicated subspecialty expertise in thyroid disorders and osteoporosis.Dr Wijewardene earned her MBBS with Honours from the University of Sydney, having initially completed a degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Newcastle. She underwent advanced endocrinology training across major Sydney tertiary networks, including Prince of Wales, Concord, and Royal North Shore Hospitals. Combining clinical practice with academic research, she was awarded a PhD from the University of Sydney for her work on personalising thyroid cancer treatment.As a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Dr Wijewardene is deeply committed to medical education and actively mentors junior clinicians. She leads investigator-initiated clinical trials and remains at the forefront of thyroid cancer research. Her foundational background in physiotherapy uniquely shapes her practice, allowing her to bring a holistic, collaborative, and multidisciplinary approach to patient care.Outside of medicine, Dr Wijewardene is married with two children. She loves spending quality time with her family, staying active, and enjoying the outdoors.
